happy-kids-200x300Being a parent is hard work, but it’s also the most rewarding job in the world. Staying positive is one of the best lessons you can teach your little ones. Here are three real life ways to raise happy kids:

1. Let them know the rules

Kids often push the limits and take advantage when there is no structure. That’s why it’s so important to make sure your expectations are known up front. You may also want to create separate expectations for home and school — so they understand how your rules change.

2. Reward achievements

Even as adults, we crave praise for achievements, especially from those we respect. However, rewards shouldn’t be given for simple expectations — they should be given for accomplishing something new or overcoming challenges. Rewarding children can motivate, promote self-esteem, and make you feel good, too.

3. Set a positive example

Children soak up information like sponges you’re always influencing their world, even when you don’t realize it. You can instill good values and morals at a young age by interacting with other people in front of them. Including them in your daily activities and showing them dedication pays off.

Whether you’re a beginner or a veteran, it’s never too late to be a good parent. Raising kids is no picnic and just like anything else, it requires lots of attention, practice and dedication. Each parent is different, and at the end of the day, all children really want is a loving parent to encourage and support them.
