GAL since February 2013
Who doesn’t love a donut when they are having a bad day? Daphne, an approved GAL transporter, is known for taking her children for donut trips to spend time with them and lift their spirits on the days they need it the most!
Certified in February 2013, Daphne has exemplified an unwavering commitment – visiting her children twice or more each month. Always diligent with her reports and follow-ups, Daphne is a beam of light for the many GAL’s who tirelessly give their time and dedication to the unfortunate children who have been abused, neglected and/or abandoned at the hands of the adults they once relied upon.
For these reasons, Daphne is one of November’s “Volunteer Spotlight!”
GAL since 2005
Penny, the proud mother of three beautiful young women, a loving
grandmother and wife, is known to rise above and beyond the call of duty. She dedicates close to 40 hours per week serving as the Volunteer Co-Coordinator of GAL’s iCare: First Responder Program.
As the First Responder Volunteer Co-Coordinator, Penny ensures that children who arrive at a shelter are seen within one or two days. As the first point of contact, Penny and the First Responders are constantly devoting compassion and the necessary understanding during this initial interaction. Additionally Penny serves as a Legal Nurse Consultant and carries a caseload of three families as a GAL. For these reasons Penny is one of November’s “Volunteer Spotlight!”
