3 Ways You Can Make a Difference In A Child’s Life Today
Many of us go through life seeking something meaningful that will change the world and make it a better place. Being an advocate for children in need is one remarkable way you can make a difference in a child’s future.
Every year, more than 2,300 abused, neglected or abandoned children are placed in the care of the State in Broward County. Children with a Guardian ad Litem, also known as a personal advocate, are more likely to be adopted, have better grades and have a brighter future. There are three ways you can make a difference right now to help a child in need.
1. Become a Guardian ad Litem
- Submit the online application completed in full.
- Provide photo ID and consent to a background check.
- Complete a personal screening interview and provide two personal references.
- Contact the GAL Program office at 954-831-6214 to complete a 30 hour training program.
2. Donate
If you are unable to volunteer your time you can make a difference by giving a monetary donation of your choice. Every contribution benefits the children, no matter how big or small it is. Financial support is needed to recruit, train and supervise new volunteer Guardians ad Litem. Financial support is also needed to provide these children with “normalcy” services, such as birthday parties, clothes, and school supplies.
Honoring someone in your life with a donation is also a special way to give a gift. Whether it is to commemorate a special occasion or a particular person, you can give on behalf of that special person to Voices for Children and change a life.
3. Join a Group or Committee
Become a part of Rising Voices, the Young Professionals of Voices for Children, our event host committee, or one of our other committees. Your business, marketing and other skills can make a difference and we need your help.
