Voices for Children of Broward County’s Welcomes New Board Chair

Rich began his career in the U.S. Air Force where he spent 10 years as an Airborne Russian Linguist and Mission Supervisor. He then served for 13 years in the U.S Coast Guard in various roles, including program manager, passenger vessel safety and security. He also served in various national security and marine safety positions with the United States Coast Guard from 1990 to 2003.

In 2011, Rich joined the board of directors for Voices for Children of Broward County. Over the last 10 years, Rich has been integral in providing expertise in

strategic development and organizational growth, fiscal management, government relations, andadvocating for the children in foster care. Rich is an active guardian ad litem for the 17th Judicial Circuit in Broward County and advocates for the best interest of each child. Since becoming a guardian ad litem in 2010 he has served over 25 children.

In addition, Rich is actively engaged in various other organizations such as Florida Ocean Alliance, Florida Sea Grant Advisory Council, Florida Oceans and Coastal Council, U.S. N.O.A.A. National Marine Sanctuary Business Advisory Council, International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators and the North American Marine Environment Protection Association. He was also the chairman of the Cruise Lines International Association’s Maritime Safety and Environmental committees.

Rich and his wife Margy have lived in Broward County for over 20 years and are adoptive parents of three and grandparents to four. They have also served as foster parents for 15 years combined in Maryland, Virginia, and Florida.
