Back-to-School in Style
As summer drew to a close, we hosted our annual back-to-school events: Back-to-Shopping at Old Navy and the Back-to-School Distribution Extravaganza. We are pleased to share that 183 children were served through these programs.
On August 13th, Old Navy Oakwood opened their store early exclusively for us to ensure that children started the school year with confidence and style. Thanks to our special partnership with the Cooper City Women’s Club, Las Olas Yoga, Precious Dreams, and Sweet Snaps, 43 children, along with their Guardian ad Litem, were treated to a shopping spree. Volunteers from the Cooper City Women’s Club, Precious Dreams, and Sweet Snaps acted as personal shoppers and were matched with a child to help shop for clothes and other items they needed for the upcoming school year. Each child received $250 worth of clothes and backpacks filled with school supplies. After shopping, each child enjoyed snacks and got to select a backpack filled with all the first day essentials. Together, we provided more than just clothes; we gave children a sense of self-assuredness, along with backpacks and back-to-school essentials, making their academic journey a stylish one.
On August 15th, we hosted the Annual Back-to-School Backpack Distribution Extravaganza. Guardians ad Litem selected from a huge array of the most fashionable backpacks which included rainbows, sparkles, unicorns, flowers, superheroes, and solid colors! Each backpack was filled with first day school essentials for 140 children.
We are so grateful to our all our donors whose individual and collective efforts have made our events a huge success this year. A special thank you to Jen Goldfarb, Cooper City Women’s Club, American Legion Club of Fort Lauderdale, Las Olas Yoga Sweet Snaps, Precious Dreams, Gateway Church, Genesis Soccer Club, Glades Wealth Partners, J&J Pack-a-Sack, Krupnick Campbell Malone Buser Slama Hancock, Southern Glazer, Cox Automotive, and to all the individuals who gifted supplies of our Amazon Wish List or gave funds toward the campaign.
