Voices For Children of Broward County Raises More Than $70,000 at the 4th Annual Soaring for Children Cocktail Reception

Voices For Children of Broward County, a Broward County not-for-profit organization advocating for children in the dependency system, and Presenting Sponsor Hunter Douglas, served as hosts to approximately 200 of Broward County’s philanthropic donors, community leaders, and Guardians ad Litem for the organization’s 4th Annual Soaring for Children Cocktail Reception on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the W Hotel, Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Soaring for Children is Voices for Children of Broward County’s annual signature cocktail reception and raises funds needed to sustain and enhance life-changing programs that directly benefit abused, abandoned and neglected children in the care of the State, in Broward County. The event is vital to Voices for Children of Broward County’s success and ability to continue to deliver key programming to the over 2,000 children they serve each year. This year, the event raised more $70,000.

Event chair Jaime Mass, board chairwoman Arielle Levinson, and executive director Erica Herman, shared their experiences with the programs and services developed by Voices for Children of Broward County; services that provide the necessary resources and tools to lead a healthy, safe, and happy childhood.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the annual Voice of Distinction Award to Donna and Jim Inglis. Donna and Jim have been a light for the children of Broward County. “Their selfless nature, desire to give back, and unwavering support has allowed Voices for Children of Broward County to grow in a way in which every organization dreams,” said event chair Jaime Mass. “Donna and Jim’s dedication to Voices for Children of Broward County is beyond measure, yet it seems only second nature to how they live their lives.”

In addition, a special presentation was made to Donna and Jim by Stanley, a young man who recently aged out of
foster care. “I met Donna and Jim at a Voices for Children of Broward County’s event in May where I shared my story. “Jim immediately walked over to my table and asked if I needed a summer job.” said Stanley. “I’ve been there
since June and can’t imagine working anyplace else. Thank you for making me feel like I belong to a family.”

Guests enjoyed an elegant evening with a luxury silent auction and raffle, great cuisine, premium cocktails, and live entertainment. The evening continued late into the night with the chic after party held over looking the Fort Lauderdale Beach.
