It’s quite fitting to think of February as the ‘Month of Love’, but what most may not realize is that it is also Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. And as we enter February, we are reminded of the importance of establishing healthy relationships, especially with teens. Teen Dating Violence is a pattern of behavior that includes physical, emotional, verbal, and/or sexual abuse used by one person in an intimate relationship to exert power and control over another and occurs with teens between the ages of 12 to 18 in the context of a past or present romantic or consensual relationship. Teen Dating Violence knows no boundaries and can impact anyone regardless of age, race, religion, gender, socioeconomic status, and/or sexual orientation.

Volunteer with Voices for Children and help to to ensure every abused, neglected, and abandoned child in Broward County has the financial resources are available for each child’s accompanying health, educational, and social needs.
Become a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) and help make a positive impact on a teen’s life. A GAL volunteer is a specially trained, child advocate whose dedicated advocacy positively impacts a foster child’s safety, well-being, and best interest.

They also provide free support to concerned friends and family members, teachers, counselors, and other service providers via phone, text, and live chat.
